Photonic Sense is first a materials manufacturer, and we make Germanium and Silicon. We further process these materials into optical elements.
Germanium and Silicon are most widely used as windows and lenses in the infrared light spectrum. They both exhibit a high refractive index and low dispersion properties. If you are looking for a product to withstand harsh environments, germanium and silicon have excellent mechanical strength and surface hardness. They also have good thermal conductivity, and both are non-hydroscopic and non-toxic.
Our standard optics line can produce parallel and wedged windows, plano-convex and plano-concave lenses, bi-convex and bi-concave lenses, plano and concave mirrors. If you require simple or complex custom shapes, we have state-of-the-art CNC machining equipment to handle prototype or production runs. |
You will find our products are critical components in night vision and thermographic imaging solutions for the military, commercial security, fire fighting and industrial monitoring equipment. Also, they are used as filters for analytical and measuring equipment, windows for remote temperature measurement, and mirrors for lasers.
For complete product details, see our Germanium and Silicon Data Sheets on the following pages. There you will find in-depth information on Physical and Optical Properties, Material Specifications, Shapes and Sizes, Tolerances, and Surface Quality.
